Over 750 pounds |
| As the closing act for this year's Earth Day 2003 activities, 20 volunteers assembled to support the Abram Creek clean-up project. The project, which took place on May 21st turned out to be a sunny, mild day, the previous day's rain made the water flow rapid, the depth of the creek much deeper, and the water opaque. |
| A safety briefing was held to review the site-specific Health and Safety Plan that was prepared specifically for this project. Hazards, PPE, teaming arrangements, and communication channels were discussed. Following the briefing, teams were organized and the project shifted from the Guerin House to Abram Creek. The final result: the team was successful (no safety incidents occurred) in the collection of approximately 775 pounds of debris from the area along the side of and within the creek. Some examples of debris are bottles, cans, paper, tires, a lead-acid battery, an office chair, a 20 foot aluminum ladder, re-bar, terra cotta pipe, and a fiberglass picnic table. |
